”Really? I would’ve thought you’d be a little more.. uh… popular with the guys.”
At least, with the ‘classic’ kind of face and figure- isn’t that the kind of thing anyone would be lusting over..? Not to say I am myself—!
"Would rumors be that bad, huh… Maybe you can find a friend to go with you instead? Valentine’s day is good for romantic love, but isn’t it good for friendly and familial love as well?" Then again, I’ve never really done this sort of thing before.
"More popular with the guys? Uwah, Hinata-kun is just too sweet… Well, in any case, even if a random guy did ask me out, I’d probably say no. A lot of guys are just after one thing, you know? But at least I know Hinata-kun isn’t like that!"
Or so ‘she’ assumed, but hey, it was all part of the act anyway. Even if he was like that, Kano didn’t care.
"Well, it’s… Even though that may be true, wouldn’t that be sort of lame? Hnnn… I guess if I really can’t find anyone willing to go with me who I actually know, then I’ll have to do that… I just hope I’m not thought poorly of. That would be really hurtful…"
Ah— I didn’t mean for her to hear that…
"Yeah, I just haven’t come around to ask anyone, y’know. I’ve been swapped down with schoolwork so it was hard to find the spare time. Don’t you have a date yet?"
"Oh, schoolwork… Right, right! Hinata-kun must be a very diligent student!"
But, of course, there was a time and place for schoolwork, and that time certainly wasn’t when a dance was coming up!
"No, I don’t! I guess I haven’t really been around enough to be asked or anything… Ahhh, it’ll be so sad going alone though.. I wonder what the other girls will think of me— too lame to get a date?"
"Valentine’s Day dance… huh. Maybe I should ask someone." And running for prince sounds a bit… well, it’d be for the better if I’m not.
"Hinata— that’s it, right— it’s nice to see you again! Aaaaah, the dance.. You don’t have a date yet? That’s hard to believe~!"
"Huh?" The sudden question strikes him off guard; it was probably a better idea for him to keep his mouth shut in this so called planning period. Kano grabbed him out of nowhere, so did he really expect such a random passerby to be brimming with ideas for a place that he felt… obligated to? No other feelings than that?
If that was the case, then this guy was certainly a huge optimist. “Unfortunately, no. Since you’re the real leader here, I’m just saying that I thought you’d have something going on…”
Then he remembers, somehow— the form turned in hastily to the staff. “Wasn’t your purpose, uh… ‘Greased Lightning’ ?”
Mmm… Maybe it was true that he should have known better, but they were both teenagers, weren’t they? He couldn’t believe that a guy his age could have absolutely no interest in music, books, movies, or plays— there had to be at least one and, while music wouldn’t help them actually move along with the drama club, they could easily try and make a script for a movie or book. Besides that, if they couldn’t pick something, they could always write their own play. Assistance with that was what being a vice president was really about— support, physically and emotionally!
And, there, see— even if A-ya wasn’t as enthusiastic as Kano was himself, he had totally just helped!
"Right, right! I totally forgot about that! How clumsy of me… Well, that’s that, then! We can just do Grease for now, but… Hm.. We’ll have to figure out how to go about that. Not only do we need members to act, but we need people who can style hair and find the right clothing.."
|academiamare You have received... a brand new hoodie! Happy fortune telling!|
Wow, he… completely forgot about this! Well, it was thoughtful anyway!
"A belated thanks!!"
Why is he here. What even is the point of being here. “You know, if you’re going to lead a club… shouldn’t you have some idea of what you’re going to do?”
... At least vice president is synonymous to 'doing absolutely nothing'
“Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh………..” Dragging that out for as long as possible without it being too strange (but, really, he was bordering the lines of normal there), Kano held up a finger towards his lovely assistant with a smile.
"…Even if that’s so, it’s fine for me to figure it out along the way, right? It’s leadership building! I’m learning, right? Anyway… since you seem to have a good idea of what you’re doing with that sort of statement, what plays are you thinking of?"
"…Now that I think about it— even though I started a drama club, I haven’t discussed any plays at all… And we need more members for that, but first things first.. What sort of plays would bring people in? Romance? Action? Tragedy? A musical?…"
Sure, maybe a strange fixation on the occult could mark him as a strange person… but in the end, A-ya was just a normal student. A normal, unsuspecting student who wanted to make his way back to the dorms after a considerably long day…
Of course— that sudden voice interrupting his thoughts just had to ruin it! He needed a moment. A moment to collect himself. A moment to respond. A moment to register the fact that some blonde just pulled him over with the intentions of being the vice president of a club he wasn’t interested.
Look at that frown! Right back to the usual, even topped off with the welcoming reply of!!!! “…I’m not particularly interested in clubs at the moment.”
Now wasn’t this guy just gosh darn barn yarn dandy. Honestly, Kano was a little disappointed in the answer, but he wasn’t taking no for an answer. In fact, not being “particularly interested in clubs” wasn’t even an answer choice. So this was the type of guy who liked to rebel against the normal, huh! He could respect that.
"Well, that’s not exactly what I said… Anyway, that’s A-OK! After all, you might not be ready, but that’s because no one introduced it to you yet, right?"
Right. Absolutely. There was nothing wrong with that mindset.
"I think that you would really gain from joining this and being the vice-president! First of all, you get to help run the place and, second, it’s drama club! We’re going to do plays and all of that, you know, and it’s going to be really…. cool. That’s right!"
Since he had no knowledge of this guy before today, it was hard to make it particularly appealing to him, but he was trying…
Of course, every good president needed a vice president! And even though Kano hadn’t even said anything about the club he wanted to form at all, he couldn’t get to it to begin with without getting some special guy or girl to help him out!
Unfortunately, he had no idea who to pick.
FORTUNATELY, a lucky student just so happened to be walking by him just as he pondered.
"Hey, you there! Yes, you!! What do you say to helping me form a drama club and becoming my vice president? Yes or…. absolutely yes?"
”Call me what you will, but I think that’d do more harm to your grade than bring it up.” He’d take PE because he thought he’d achieve well, right? That’s why anyone would take any lessons, surely. … So he thought, at least. “If, uh, you’re really that desperate- I’ll jog along for a short stretch, or something.”
"Oh, no worries! I’m not into calling names or anything like that." Besides, any names that he did use were all teasing to begin with. Insults just weren’t his forte unless it came to like, well, Shintaro or someone. "For real? Uwaaah, you’re too nice! If that’s the case, then we should get going already!"
